HELP! I need some career advice?

I am really considering a career in real estate! I would like to start off as a realtor!

I am 19 years old, and am a people person, and LOVE houses! I am going to school and someday want to get a degree in architechture and design beautiful homes!

Anyway…..Everyone always tells me NOT to become a realtor because they dont make any money, and that it is very hard. So, I have been putting it off for a while! However, I figured that now would be a good time to get into the feild because the market is a little slower, and I am still young without kids, so I have plenty of time to get my career started!

So, do you have any advice for me? How much money can you make as a DEDICATED realtor!
By the way…I live in Tampa, Florida……if that helps!
My goals for right now would be to make at least 30-40,000 per year. My hubby makes about that right now, and so we would be just fine if I was also making that!

You can make a lot when the market is good and not make much when the market is down. At least you know the market is on the slide right now. The housing market goes in cycles and should bottom out in 3-7 years. When it goes back up, then everyone will want to be Realtor again.

You will just have to go with the flow or find a city/location where the downs are not that down.

As for salary, I’ve had friends (not one myself) go from very high 200K+ to very low 30K depending on how the market is.

If you know how to manage your finances, you will be fine during the down times.

Good Luck
